United States Marine Corps Wood Sign

I have always had an affinity for the military; the tradition, the mindset, the comradery.

I recently had the opportunity to re-create the Marine Corps badge for a client. What a fantastic learning experience!

All the pieces of the sign were routed out on my Shapeoko router, then sanded, primed, and painted. My original intention was to adhere the cutout pieces to a backer board; however, because I was shipping the piece overseas, I decided to embed the entirety of the piece in epoxy to make it more robust.

There was talks of swapping the red Anchor/Globe/Eagle with an all-wood version, but this was passed over in favor of a red version to better accentuate the commission piece. I think it was the correct decision.
