Epoxy Lamps (WIP)

I’ve seen a TON of epoxy based projects online within the last 3 years. In particular, I have seen many lamps that use epoxy/mica color powders to color an LED light that is shining from behind the poured epoxy.

I wanted to try my hand at these projects. I love the look, I love the challenge of making things that look good and that people would love to have in their space.

I built some acrylic molds of a standard size, 7” tall x 3 “ wide x 3” deep. Into them I placed a small wood assembly that serves as the base of the lamp. Before I poured the Epoxy, I built a small LED assembly of 12v LED bulbs that run off of a 12v DC power supply. In the future I will likely only use 9v as a battery can power these lamps much easier.

For my next iterations, I want to be a little more free-form with the base plate; something that holds a 9v battery better as well as accepts a universal epoxy topper that can be changed out to show different colors.
