Epoxy Mandala

I finally had inspiration to try out some epoxy pours; some multi-colored Chakra Mandalas!

I first routed these out on my Shapeoko Router with the 60 degree engraving bit, then mixed epoxy, separated into 7 different ounce containers, and added a variety of mica powders to color the epoxy. I then used my quickly-built vacuum chamber to remove as many of the bubbles from the epoxy as I could (which I believe was just about all of them) and then poured into the engraved mandala spaces. Took around 3 days to fully cure.

I then sanded them down with belt/orbital sander, finished with some enamel clear and was basically done. The 1/2” thick mandalas were used as coaster, but for the 3/4” thick mandalas, I added some paracord banding around the outside to further add character, then strung them up using a paracord snake knot as the suspension device. I absolutely loved every second of this build, and I look forward to more epoxy work!
