The Roads We Travel

Because I have found a fair amount of free time lately, I have seized the opportunity to travel to nearby destinations and rediscover them as a fundamentally different person that last I witnessed them.

Originally, and presently, I am from the state of Utah. I personally believe this is God’s country, so much natural beauty around us here, and in such variety also. There is nowhere else in the world where you can ski in the morning and ride dirt bikes in the afternoon. It’s never ceases to amaze me, though; as much as i’ve seen and experienced in this state, there is always something new and wonderful to capture my attention and lead me towards new adventure. It certainly helps, too, when I have some sort of mobile tent that I can tote with me wherever I want. I get tired or stuck, I pull my truck into a comfy spot and set stakes.

One of my favorite personal glimmers is the excitement and happiness I feel when I drive down a road I have never been on before. I guess mainly because I have been on so many already, but also because new roads lead you to new places. Much like the literal adventure of new roads, it is in some ways profound to connect this metaphor to life. It is only by traveling new roads do we see new things, meet new people, go to new places, and grow not only mentally or emotionally, but spiritually as humans. It’s inspiring to think that even a trip to a new coffee shop or walking into a beautiful part of the woods that has never been seen before can yield even the smallest of interactions that can add clarity to what often seems like a confusing life.

If you get the chance, go check out that new experience you’ve been putting off. If you find yourself feeling stuck because you are fearful of the un-comfort, take the leap, it will be worth it, I promise. Don’t forget to smell the roses, be late to that party if it means you fulfilled your soul in a way that you may not ever have before.

Til next time, how bout ya!
